Safety glass
Safety glass, also called laminated glass, is glass that consists of several layers of clear glass with one or more layers of safety film in between. When safety glass breaks, cracks will appear in the glass, but the shards are held together by the foil between the layers of glass. The layers are constructed as follows: laminated glass consists of a layer of non-tempered glass, then one or more layers of foil and then another layer of non-tempered glass.
